Hotel Opening: The Sands by Nightcap Plus
As we continue to open new Nightcap Hotels across the country, we’re excited to see Nightcap Plus expanding as well. In January 2022 we welcome The Sands by Nightcap Plus in Carrum Downs VIC. Southeast of Melbourne, this brand new hotel is our fourth Nightcap Plus property and the first in Victoria. Guests have access to the hotel bar, bistro and breakfast room as well as function spaces for special events. The rooms are big, bright and modern to give you everything you love about NIghtcap Hotels, plus more.
Nestled at the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula, The Sands is the ideal base to explore Melbourne’s southeast. Head to the CBD to see the sights, or take a trip down the Peninsula to explore the beaches, wineries, golf courses and everything else this gorgeous pocket of VIC has to offer. Whether you’re coming on holiday or to visit your nearest and dearest in the area, The Sands by Nightcap Plus is an absolute treat that won’t break the bank.
Here’s our guide to the top 5 things to do in and around Carrum Downs:
Mornington Peninsula
A favourite of Melbournians for day trips or a weekend away, the Mornington Peninsula has something for everyone. Some of Victoria’s best wineries are in this region, producing delicious Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, among other varietals. With great wine comes great food, and the cafes, restaurants and food shops on the Peninsula do not disappoint. If you’re travelling with the family, there are plenty of activities to enjoy like the Enchanted Adventure Garden, Arthurs Seat and (of course) a number of beaches to choose from. If relaxation is more your thing, head straight to Peninsula Hot Springs for a rejuvenating dip in thermal waters. There is so much to see and do in the area, so take a look at the Visit Victoria website for more information.
Frankston
Just a short drive from The Sands lies the city of Frankston, a thriving city at the start of the Mornington Peninsula. Frankston has evolved over the years to offer local markets, funky street art, boutiques, cafes, restaurants and distilleries, not to mention a lively beachfront, bushlands and manicured gardens. There truly is something for everyone, with new things to discover around every corner. Check out the Discover Frankston website for more information and to see what special events are coming up.
Seaford Beach (and Train Station)
About 7 km from the hotel is Seaford Beach, a local favourite for fun in the sun. The bay water is calm and ideal for families, and being a bit farther south from the busy city beaches means it’s a quieter stretch of sand with fewer people around. The Seaford Train Station is right by the beach, offering easy access to the Melbourne CBD for sightseeing, shopping or simply a day wandering the streets of Melbourne.
Sandhurst Golf Club
If you’re in need of a day on the green, head to Sandhurst Golf Club, home to two of Victoria’s greatest golf courses: the Champion Course and the North Course. Both have 18 holes and par 72 with a challenging yet fair design. Less than 5 km from The Sands, you won’t have far to travel for a good feed and comfy bed after a day of golfing.
Cranbourne Business Estates
Conveniently located 8 km from The Sands, Cranbourne Business Estates is home to a variety of businesses, including showrooms, gyms, retail shops and more. Staying at The Sands by Nightcap Plus puts you close to it all without the hustle and bustle of the CBD.
