Regional Towns to Travel to Celebrate New Years
As fun as it is to ring in the new year at a sweaty club full of strangers, there’s something much more fulfilling about celebrating with the ones you love while staying somewhere special. We’ve taken a different spin on the holiday this year and listed our picks for the best regional towns to travel for New Years. Cheers to that, and cheers to you!
Nowra NSW
Hanging Rock, Nowra NSW
Nestled in the idyllic Shoalhaven Region of NSW is the country town of Nowra. From the river to peaceful bushland and Jarvis Bay, there’s beauty all around, not to mention cellar doors, museums, galleries and a range of activities for kids of all ages. Nightcap at Archer Hotel is right in town and has a pool, tennis court and a variety of rooms to choose from.
Blue Mountains NSW
On any trip to visit the majestic Blue Mountains, Jenolan Caves, Scenic World or anything else in the area, be sure to stop by the nearby towns for a stroll along the streets. We have three Nightcap hotels to choose from at the gateway to the Blue Mountains: Nightcap at Colyton Hotel, Nightcap at Blue Cattle Dog Hotel and Nightcap at Jamison Hotel. Is there a more grounded place to ring in the new year?!
Geraldton WA
HMAS Sydney II Memorial, Geraldton WA
There’s no denying the Coral Coast of WA is one of the most beautiful places around. Geraldton may be more of a city than a regional town, but we’re putting it on this list anyway. In the region you can find pristine beaches, a pink lake, wildflowers and some incredible wildlife. The city of Geraldton offers plenty of shops, restaurants, galleries and historic sites. Stay at nearby Nightcap at Wintersun Hotel as your base to discover everything in the area.
Busselton WA
Again, not so much a regional town but a small city south of Perth, Busselton is the gateway to the Margaret River region. With the nearly 2km jetty, a lovely foreshore and one of the best wine growing regions just down the road, Nightcap at The Ship Inn is the perfect place to stay on a visit to Busselton. Whether you pop the champagne out on the town or in the comfort of your self contained unit, Busso is the spot to be for the new year.
Toowoomba QLD
Sunflower Field, Toowoomba QLD
From the historical Cobb + Co Museum to Picnic Point lookout, gardens, parks and art galleries, there’s something for everyone in Toowoomba. Inland from Brisbane, it’s one of the biggest regional towns in Australia and is an absolute delight to visit. Be sure to stay at Nightcap at Federal Hotel for great value accommodation with friendly service.
Emerald QLD
The hub of the Central Highlands of Queensland, the town of Emerald is the gateway to one of the largest sapphire fields in the southern hemisphere (and one that you can visit to try your luck at finding a gem). Check out Lake Maraboon for fishing and watersports, or stroll through Morton Park with a massive version of Van Gogh’s Sunflowers on display. Nightcap at Emerald Star Hotel is your home away from home when staying in the region.
