Today on The Local Trail in Far North Queensland, we’re letting you take your pick from one of the many day trips to see the Great Barrier Reef. If you’re not that into a full day out to the reef, there are plenty of other leisurely activities and action sports available within an arm's reach of Cairns. Check out the shops and sights in the city, go for a helicopter flight over the Reef, or even try your hand at skydiving or bungee jumping!

You can enjoy scuba diving (nope, don’t need certification if you’re a beginner!), snorkelling or staying dry in a glass-bottom semi-submersible vessel. No matter how you choose to see it, we know you’ll be impressed with the incredible ecosystem that lives beneath the surface. After all, it is one of the seven wonders of the world!
